High Precision Ohm Meter

Reliable Contact resistance determination

PROMET SMO

High-precision micro-ohm meter for ohmic and inductive loads

PROMET SMO is a compact, battery operated, high-precision measuring device for determining resistance values in the μΩ range. The use of four-wire measuring technology and high test currents of up to 100 A enable PROMET SMO to meet the most stringent accuracy requirements. PROMET SMO can also be used to determine the winding resistances of transformers, motors and instrument transformers. High functionality, rechargeable batteries and a light weight of just 9.3 kg make this measuring device suitable for universal use.

Contact resistance determination with earthing on both sides

Thanks to parallel measurement of the earth current, the resistance can be determined precisely for the main contacts of switchgear devices even with earthing on both sides. The earth current is measured with a current clamp and automatically taken into account by the system during resistance determination. Not only would disconnecting the earth conductor make carrying out tests more complicated, it would also be detrimental to safety.

Measurements on inductive loads

PROMET SMO has been designed for a number of applications including measuring the resistance of inductive loads up to 1000 henrys, such as HV, MV and LV transformers, motors and instrument transformers, for example. A special algorithm ensures that inductive loads are charged and discharged quickly keeping measurement times short. The charging and discharging of the energy stored in the core are visualized on the display. The measuring device is also equipped with safety functions to protect against discharge arcs when current leads are disconnected.

PROMET SE

Compact, high-precision ohm meter

PROMET SE is a compact, battery-operated ohm meter with an adjustable test current of up to 200 A. Two current outputs and two voltage measurement inputs allow the resistance to be determined at two measurement points simultaneously. Flexible handling with battery operation and the high functionality and precision which are characteristic of the popular PROMET product range make this universal measuring device particularly suitable for portable use in switching stations or industrial environments. Four-wire measuring technology enables PROMET SE to meet the most stringent accuracy requirements, making it ideal for the high-precision determination of resistances in the μΩ range.

Ideal for difficult conditions

Because the device weighs just 1.5 kg and features a compact housing fitted with a carrying strap, it can even be used in situations where it cannot be put down, for example when working on ladders or hoisting platforms. The powerful lithium-ion battery guarantees operation independent of the power supply even for periods of several hours and longer.

Determination of resistance at two measurement points

Because the device is equipped with two current outputs and two voltage measurement inputs, it is possible to carry out parallel measurements at two measurement points in order to be able to assess the quality of connections, for example. In addition, when used in combination with an ACTAS switchgear test system, up to six main contacts can be tested in parallel.

Constant test currents up to 200 A

A current source based on state-of-the-art power electronics and capacitor technology provides constant output for test currents up to 200 A, even during battery operation. The test currents are loadindependent and adjustable.

Assessing the quality of connections

Because there are two voltage measurement inputs, the quality of connections such as screw connections on busbars can be determined quickly and easily using the quality factor. The quality factor is defined by the ratio of the resistance of the connection over the overlap length to the resistance of the busbar over the same length.

PROMET L10

Compact micro-ohm meter for ohmic and inductive loads

PROMET L10 is a compact, battery-operated microohm meter for ohmic and inductive loads. The use of four-wire measuring technology and high test currents of up to 10 A enable PROMET L10 to meet the most stringent accuracy requirements when determining resistances in the μΩ to kΩ range. Because PROMET L10 can carry out measurements on inductive loads, it can also be used to determine the winding resistances of transformers, motors and instrument transformers. Not only does the device provide high functionality, its light weight of just 0.6 kg, rechargeable batteries and operation via Android app also make it suitable for a wide range of applications.

Measurements on inductive loads

PROMET L10 has been designed for a number of applications including measuring the resistance of inductive loads up to 500 henrys, such as HV, MV and LV transformers, motors, generators, instrument transformers and cable reels, for example. A special algorithm ensures that inductive loads are charged and discharged quickly keeping measurement times short and the resistance value stable. Charging and discharging are visualized on the display. The measuring device is also equipped with safety functions to protect against discharge arcs and dangerous induced voltages.

Measurements on ohmic loads

The use of four-wire measuring technology and high test currents of up to 10 A enable PROMET L10 to meet the most stringent accuracy requirements when determining resistances in the μΩ to kΩ range. Typical applications include measuring the contact resistance of circuit breakers or disconnectors, testing current connections such as bus bars, cables and cable harnesses and checking welded joints and earth connections.
